Ingenico and Visa collaborate to accelerate unified commerce solutions via AXIUM + Visa Acceptance Platform
What happened
On 18 March 2026, Ingenico announced a collaboration with Visa to combine Ingenico's AXIUM Android smart POS terminals with the Visa Acceptance Platform, including gateway and risk management services. The main component is technical pre-certification with the Visa Acceptance Platform, significantly reducing time-to-market while meeting industry and payment requirements.
The collaboration leverages Visa's e-commerce expertise to grow Ingenico's omnichannel payment capabilities for current and future clients.
Why it matters
A Visa partnership at the platform level — not just certification — elevates Ingenico's strategic positioning and creates a preferential path for acquirers already on the Visa Acceptance Platform to adopt Ingenico terminals. Pre-certification reduces integration friction, which is a key barrier in terminal vendor selection decisions.
This could influence procurement decisions at tracked customers who use the Visa Acceptance Platform as their primary gateway.
What to watch
Monitor which acquirers and PSPs adopt the Ingenico+Visa pre-certified solution. Track whether this collaboration translates into accelerated deployment wins, particularly in markets where Visa Acceptance Platform has strong acquirer coverage.
