Nexi cuts SoftPOS and smart terminal list prices for Italian small merchants for the whole of October
What happened
Nexi opened a month-long acquisition campaign for Italian small and mid-sized merchants running from 1 to 31 October 2026, pulling its Black Friday pricing forward. SoftPOS drops to 15 euros from 19, the SmartPOS Mini to 129 euros from 169, and installation, normally 79 euros, is free on SmartPOS Mini with printer, SmartPOS and SmartPOS Cordless.
Online, XPay Pro and XPay Hotel come with no monthly fee and reduced commissions that are not quantified. On the cash-register side SmartPOS Cassa is 49 euros a month with free installation against 59 euros plus 150 euros, Smart Cassa Classic 39 euros a month and Smart Commerce Classic 49 euros a month, both with installation waived.
The offer carries settlement to the merchant account within one working day and a 30 percent tax credit on commissions subject to the statutory conditions, and it requires a merchant acquiring contract.
Why it matters
Italy is the estate Worldline said on 24 September it had taken to a 10 percent acquiring share from 4 percent in 2022, and this is the incumbent answering in the segment where that share is won, one SME at a time. What is notable is where the discount sits: hardware, installation and monthly fees, not the merchant service charge.
Nexi is buying volume at the point of signature while leaving the rate it earns on that volume contract-bound and undisclosed, which is the pricing structure the whole Italian SME market is converging on and the reason headline terminal prices say so little about what acceptance costs.
What to watch
Whether the discounts are extended past 31 October or become standing list prices, whether Worldline, Banca Sella or PostePay answer with SME pricing of their own, and whether the 30 percent commission tax credit is carried into Italy's next budget.
