Klarna takes its instalments in store at lululemon in the UK and Germany
What happened
Klarna confirmed on 22 July 2026 that its instalment and pay-later options are live at the checkout in lululemon stores in the UK and Germany, extending an online partnership of more than five years into physical retail. Customers scan a QR code and complete the purchase in the Klarna app, splitting the amount into interest-free instalments or deferring up to 30 days.
No new hardware is required: lululemon already acquires through Adyen, and Klarna built the in-store flow on that existing integration.
Why it matters
In-store is where roughly four times the e-commerce volume sits, and BNPL has never had a clean route to the till. Riding an existing acquirer integration rather than terminal software makes the rollout replicable at any retailer on the same platform, which turns BNPL at the point of sale into a distribution question for acquirers instead of a hardware project for merchants.
What to watch
Whether other Adyen retailers switch it on, and whether competing acquirers ship equivalent in-store BNPL flows.
