Klarna goes live at UK homeware retailer The White Company
What happened
Klarna went live at The White Company, a UK home and lifestyle retailer, on 13 October 2026. Three options are available on the retailer's online store: Pay in Full, Pay in 3 and Pay in 30 days, the latter two being Klarna's pay-later products. Klarna's Fair Financing tier for the highest-value items is not part of this launch, and the deal covers online purchases only.
No sales volumes or order values were published. Marc O'Fathaigh, Klarna's Country Manager for UK and Ireland, tied the launch to customers' baskets growing larger, which he said matters particularly for home purchases.
Why it matters
Homeware is the vertical where instalments do the most work, because basket values sit above the point at which a shopper hesitates and below the point at which a retailer would arrange credit itself, and The White Company adding pay-later the same week as Marks & Spencer shows the UK home category converging on the same answer. The omission is as informative as the launch: leaving out Fair Financing keeps the retailer out of regulated longer-term credit and inside the unregulated short-instalment space, a line UK retailers are watching closely as the FCA's buy-now-pay-later regime approaches.
What to watch
Whether The White Company extends Klarna to its stores or adds the Fair Financing tier, how the UK home and lifestyle category as a whole settles between instalments and retailer-arranged credit, and how the incoming FCA regime changes which tiers retailers are willing to present.
