Nopan raises €7.2m and joins EPI as a principal member to push Wero at large merchants
What happened
Nopan, founded by former Netflix payments leads Konstantin Surkov and Nick Ryabov, raised €7.2m in a seed round led by Newion, announced on 14 July 2026. The company holds a De Nederlandsche Bank licence obtained in Q4 2025 and has joined EPI as a principal member. Its product is an optimisation layer above plain connectivity for account and wallet payments, routing transactions to lift conversion and cut cost for large digital merchants, with Wero as the primary target rail.
Why it matters
Account-to-account acceptance fails at large merchants on the last mile, where bank behaviour, retries and operational handling decide conversion rather than the API. A funded specialist inside EPI's principal membership is a sign that Wero's enterprise problem is being treated as a performance problem, which is what has to be solved before Wero can compete with cards on checkout conversion.
What to watch
Which large merchants or PSPs go live on Nopan's layer, and whether EPI's other members buy comparable optimisation rather than building it.
