What it does

Closed-loop mobile payment scheme: consumers pay from a Satispay balance funded by SEPA direct debit, merchants sign directly with Satispay and are settled by it, and the scheme bypasses the card rails entirely, which is why it prices per transaction rather than in interchange terms. Group headquarters and product are in Milan, but the licence is NOT Italian: payment services are provided by Satispay Europe S.A., a Luxembourg e-money institution (CSSF register no. W00000010), which the EBA golden copy of 5 September 2026 shows notified in Italy for ES_010 and PS_05B (acquiring) and in every other EEA state for e-money issuance only. Satispay S.p.A. therefore does not appear in Banca d'Italia's albo at all, and a note that calls it an Italian licensed institution would be wrong.
