Klarna goes live across Solidgate's platform, reaching merchants in the Baltics and central and eastern Europe
EU
What happened
Klarna went live natively on Solidgate, so merchants already on the platform can switch on Pay in Full, interest-free instalments and longer-term financing at checkout with no additional integration. The deal covers every European market Solidgate operates in and opens a route for Klarna into the Baltics and central and eastern Europe through Solidgate's merchant base there. Klarna brings more than 120 million shoppers worldwide.
Why it matters
Klarna's European growth is now distribution work rather than direct sales: after the Worldline framework agreement in May it is stacking PSP channels rather than signing merchants one by one. Solidgate's strength is subscription and digital-goods merchants incorporated in central and eastern Europe, a segment where BNPL penetration is far below the Nordic and German baseline, so this is a genuine geographic extension rather than another western European integration.
For acquirers it is a reminder that BNPL placement is increasingly decided by the PSP's method catalogue, not by the merchant.
What to watch
Whether Klarna discloses volume from the central and eastern European corridor, and which PSP signs the next comparable distribution deal.
