Competitive win

Microsoft picks Checkout.com to power EMEA card acceptance for Xbox, 365 and Azure

What happened

In June 2026 Microsoft selected Checkout.com to provide card acceptance across EMEA for Xbox, Microsoft 365 and Azure, connecting via the Microsoft Payments API. The deal deploys Checkout.com's Intelligent Acceptance transaction-routing engine to lift authorisation rates and cut false declines across European card markets.

Why it matters

Winning a hyperscaler's EMEA card acceptance is a marquee enterprise reference that pits Checkout.com directly against Adyen, Stripe and Worldpay for large-merchant European volume.

What to watch

Whether Microsoft expands the mandate to other regions or products, and whether rivals counter with similar hyperscaler wins.
