What it does
Turkey's second-largest private bank by its own account, and the acquirer of record for its own member businesses: it signs them directly and runs a POS range from contactless countertop and fiscal Yazarkasa devices to CepPOS on a phone, virtual POS for online sales and DCC.

- Nov 2021·acquired by BBVA — BBVA's board agreed on 15 Nov 2021 to bid for the 50.15% of Garanti BBVA it did not own at TRY 12.20 a share, a price raised to TRY 15 on 25 Apr 2022. When the offer closed on 18 May 2022 BBVA had bought 36.12% for TRY 22,758m (about EUR 1.41bn), reaching 85.97%.
- Feb 2017·acquired by BBVA — BBVA agreed on 21 Feb 2017 to buy a further 9.95% of Garanti from the Doğuş Group for about TRY 3,322 million (about EUR 859 million) and completed on 22 Mar 2017, reaching 49.85%. On completion the 2014 shareholders' agreement between BBVA and Doğuş ceased to be in force.
- Nov 2014·acquired by BBVA — BBVA agreed on 19 Nov 2014 to buy 14.89% of Garanti from the Doğuş Group and completed on 27 Jul 2015, paying about TRY 5,481 million (about EUR 1,854 million) and reaching 39.90%. Under the amended shareholders' agreement BBVA appoints the chairman, the CEO and most of the board, and it began to fully consolidate Garanti.
