• Mar 2026·verkaufte Raiffeisen Bank Romania — Raiffeisen Bank Romania agreed on 28 March 2026 to buy all of Garanti BBVA Group Romania, Garanti Bank S.A. and the leasing unit Motoractive IFN S.A., from subsidiaries of BBVA for a purchase price of EUR 591 million, subject to adjustments at closing. Closing is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which RBI plans to merge the acquired units with its Romanian operations.
• Nov 2021·übernahm Garanti BBVA — BBVA's board agreed on 15 Nov 2021 to bid for the 50.15% of Garanti BBVA it did not own at TRY 12.20 a share, a price raised to TRY 15 on 25 Apr 2022. When the offer closed on 18 May 2022 BBVA had bought 36.12% for TRY 22,758m (about EUR 1.41bn), reaching 85.97%.
• Aug 2020·übernahm Adquira México (Flap) — BBVA announced on 3 Aug 2020 that it had bought, through Openpay, the 50% of Adquira México (Flap) held by Telefónica México, becoming the sole owner. BBVA said Openpay and Flap together processed MXN 215bn of payments in 2019; no price was disclosed.
• Feb 2017·übernahm Garanti BBVA — BBVA agreed on 21 Feb 2017 to buy a further 9.95% of Garanti from the Doğuş Group for about TRY 3,322 million (about EUR 859 million) and completed on 22 Mar 2017, reaching 49.85%. On completion the 2014 shareholders' agreement between BBVA and Doğuş ceased to be in force.
• Dec 2016·übernahm Openpay — BBVA signed an agreement in December 2016 to acquire Openpay, a Mexican payment service provider that lets merchants accept card, cash, loyalty-point and bank-transfer payments online. BBVA Bancomer announced the closing on 24 Apr 2017; no price was disclosed.
• Nov 2014·übernahm Garanti BBVA — BBVA agreed on 19 Nov 2014 to buy 14.89% of Garanti from the Doğuş Group and completed on 27 Jul 2015, paying about TRY 5,481 million (about EUR 1,854 million) and reaching 39.90%. Under the amended shareholders' agreement BBVA appoints the chairman, the CEO and most of the board, and it began to fully consolidate Garanti.
