Worldline and Lissi launch a managed hub for European digital identity wallets

EUGermany

What happened

On 13 August 2026 Worldline and the German digital identity provider Lissi launched the Worldline Digital Identity Hub, a managed orchestration platform that gives banks a single integration point to connect to European Digital Identity Wallets. The hub is hosted in private European data centres and wired directly into Worldline's Access Control Server, covering at least 27 national public and private wallets for onboarding, customer authentication and account-to-account payments.

The partners say it cuts integration timelines from months to weeks. Lissi raised EUR 3.5 million earlier this summer after winning Germany's EUDI Wallet Challenge in 2025.

Why it matters

eIDAS 2.0 puts a hard obligation on the other side of the counter: member states are expected to issue official wallets by late 2026 and banks must accept every certified wallet by the end of 2027, which means 27 different integrations arriving on a fixed deadline. Selling that as a managed hub attached to an existing 3-D Secure Access Control Server is Worldline monetising infrastructure it already runs, in a year when its merchant business is barely growing.

It also puts identity orchestration next to A2A payment initiation, which is where the wallet actually touches acceptance rather than just onboarding.

What to watch

Which banks sign up before the 2027 deadline, whether competing acquirers and processors answer with their own wallet hubs, and whether the A2A payment-initiation leg is used in practice or the hub stays an onboarding tool.
