PayPal raises full-year guidance as Q3 2026 revenue rises 2 percent and payment volume reaches 487 billion dollars

What happened

PayPal reported Q3 2026 net revenues up 2 percent to USD 8.6bn, transaction margin dollars up 2 percent to USD 4.0bn and non-GAAP EPS up 8 percent to USD 1.45, while GAAP EPS fell 4 percent to USD 1.25 and GAAP operating margin contracted 173 basis points to 16.3 percent. Total payment volume rose 6 percent to USD 487.1bn, payment transactions rose 7 percent to 6.8 billion and active accounts rose 0.6 percent to 440 million.

The company raised full-year non-GAAP EPS guidance to about USD 5.60 from about USD 5.38, reaffirmed GAAP EPS guidance of about USD 5.07, and declared a USD 0.14 quarterly dividend.

Why it matters

PayPal is one of the methods a European online merchant is expected to offer, and its branded checkout carries volume that acquirers never price. Transaction margin growing 2 percent against 6 percent volume growth shows how little of that volume converts into margin, which shapes how hard PayPal pushes merchants onto its newer services, and active accounts almost flat at 440 million means the wallet is growing by usage rather than by reach.

What to watch

Whether transaction margin dollar growth accelerates in Q4 against the raised guidance, and whether active account growth stays near zero in Europe.
