Bluefin launches BluePOS payment software exclusively for PAX terminals
What happened
Bluefin Payment Systems launched BluePOS, payment software designed exclusively for PAX Technology point-of-sale devices. The software uses Bluefin's PayConex gateway and represents a move by the company to develop products completely in-house rather than relying on third-party integrations. This follows Bluefin's earlier achievement of Girocard certification for the Newland N950 in Germany.
Why it matters
The PAX ecosystem continues to expand as software providers build dedicated solutions for PAX hardware. Each new software partnership strengthens PAX's position as a platform, not just a hardware vendor — making it harder for acquirers to switch away once invested in the PAX software ecosystem. Bluefin's focus on payments security (P2PE, PCI compliance) adds enterprise credibility to the PAX proposition.
What to watch
Monitor BluePOS deployment scale and whether it drives incremental PAX terminal sales. Track whether Bluefin or similar software providers build dedicated solutions for Ingenico AXIUM to maintain competitive parity.
