What it does
Computop is a technical payment service provider and never holds the money. Its own General Terms and Conditions Part II (Processing E-com / MoTo / POS) say the Computop Paygate platform receives transaction-relevant data from the merchant's business operations and forwards or processes it to the banks or payment service providers the merchant has selected, that Computop acts exclusively as a technical service provider for the processing of payment transactions, and that the payments themselves are made directly by those banks or payment service providers to the merchant. Part I of the same terms sets the commercial basis: the amount of the user and service fees is set out in the order form, and fees from continuing obligations are invoiced retroactively at the end of each month. What the merchant buys is the set-up and parameterisation of its interface on Computop Paygate for the service areas it orders, which the terms list as e-commerce, mail order or telephone order, point of sale and optionally omnichannel, each needing its own MID. Computop has been a wholly owned Nexi subsidiary since 15 September 2025, when Nexi Germany Holding bought the remaining 49 percent, and Nexi's Integrated Annual Report 2025 describes it as the technical gateway provider for Nexi Germany's Wero e-commerce acceptance rollout.
